Sandra Bookman is the co-anchorfor “Eyewitness News”at noon. She joined the team in 1998 as a reporterand thenquickly becameweekend anchor. Additionally, shehas hosted the weekly public affairs show“Here and Now”since 2013, acontinuationof“Like It Is with Gil Noble,”a pioneering program forAfrican Americanaudiences.Before working at WABC-TV, Bookman served as the weekend anchor at WSB-TV, an ABC affiliate in Atlanta for nine years.Prior to joining WSB-TV, she held weekend anchor positionsat WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina,and KFDM-TV in Beaumont, Texas.She served seven years reporting on theOlympics, covering major events prior toAtlanta winningthe bid through the 1996 bombing, as well as the 1992 Barcelona games. Her international reporting includes coverage from South Africa after Nelson Mandela’s release in 1990.Bookman has received three local Emmy®Awards and recognition for her Olympic coverage and reporting on the ValueJet Airlines crash. In addition to her anchoring duties, shealso participates in various community events. She recently co-hosted the Black Health MattersHarlem Week Summit and Expo in New York City on Aug.14, 2025.Bookmanholds a Bachelor of Artsin journalism from the University of Texas
